Alphonse Elric is Edward's younger brother. His body is but a suit of armor that his soul was attached, by his brother, in an accident.
Al also has a knack for alchemy but is not a state alchemist himself allowing him to do things that Edward cannot do.
Out of Edward and Al, Alphose is the kinder and understanding brother. Through their trials, Alphose usually keeps his reckless brother out of too much trouble, being the more reasonable thinker of the two.
